𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮,
🔖 On behalf of the organization Voice of Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians, we express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all print and electronic media outlets in Kosovo and Albania for their prompt reaction and reporting on the recent stabbing incident in the municipality of Ferizaj. We acknowledge your efforts and commitment to informing the public objectively and accurately about this grave event, in which four individuals, including two underage girls, were injured in an unprovoked and brutal street attack.
🔴 Regarding this case and any future coverage involving the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, we kindly urge you to exercise sensitivity and caution with terminology. Specifically, we request that you refrain from using the term 🔖 “RAE” in your writings and statements, as:
“Each of these communities has its own identity, history, and culture.”
🗣️ The term “RAE” combines these three communities into a single label, failing to recognize their unique identities and making it easier for stereotypes and prejudices to emerge as a collective grouping without distinctions. Recognizing and using their distinct names 🔖 (Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians) honors their identities and contributes to reducing discrimination and stereotypes.
🤝 Once again, we thank you for your professionalism and dedication. Media collaboration and support remain essential for raising awareness among society and institutions about the issues affecting all communities.
😇 With utmost respect and gratitude for your tireless efforts!
Voice of Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians
